Novice

The Novice team is our beginner level, competitive team. They perfect their swimming and beginner synchro skills. Swimmers should be able to swim four (4) laps of crawl stroke and 4 breaststroke (1 lap=25 yards) and be comfortable floating on his/her back. Swimmers who have not participated in Sea Stars or a summer camp should schedule an assessment by contacting us at [email protected] Members of this team will attend several local competitions, and train from September to June.

Tryouts requirements:  
4 laps of crawl
4 laps of breaststroke - (with the appropriate kick)
2 laps of backstroke
1 lap of dolphin kick
1 lap of butterfly
Must be able to independently float on back for 10 seconds
Must be able to trade water for 20 seconds
Must be able to follow instructions

In addition to swimming skills, we also look for:

Coachability – openness to feedback, willingness to try corrections, and eagerness to improve
Focus and listening – ability to follow directions in a group setting
Respectful behavior – toward coaches, teammates, and the space

Ages: 5-11

Novice Group Coaches: Maya Reistad, Sophie Lin & Giordana Ventura 

Workout Days/Times: Wednesday and Fridays 5:00-7:00pm at Bellevue Aquatic Center (BAC)

Cost: $ TBD monthly fee plus one time registration fee. Plus three quaterly pledges to the Booster Club (each around $250) and Outfitting costs later during the seaosn.

Note: Schedule might change if swimmers are adavanced to a different level depending on progress. 

Registration: We will open registration soon during the first week of September.

First practice: Wednesday September 3rd. Time: 5:00-7:00pm Location: Bellevue Aquatic Center (601 143rd Ave NE, Bellevue, WA, 98007).

What to bring to the first day of practice?: Swim suit, swim cap, goggles, noseclip, towel, yoga mat, workout clothes, water bottle. 

What to expect on your first practice?: Coaches will meet swimmers at the front pool entrance. We will swim for 1 hour and then work on land skills for the second hour of practice. (Swimmers stay on their swim suit, they dry out and put on workout shorts for the land portion of practice). At the end of practice, the coaches will walk the swimmers out the front door where the parents can pick up their swimmer.

Sunday September 7th: Welcome Potluck 11:30am-1:30pm

First parents meeting and Welcome Party.

Intermediate

The Intermediate team is another beginner level, competitive team. They perfect their swimming and artistic skills.  Swimmers should be able to swim eight laps of crawl stroke and 4 breaststroke, and be comfortable floating on his/her back. Swimmers who have not participated in Sea Stars or a summer camp should schedule an assessment by contacting us at [email protected].  Members of this team will attend several local competitions, and train from September to June.

Ages: 7-12 

Intermediate Group Coaches: Lacey Ethier & Giordana Ventura

Workout Days/Times: Mondays 7:00-9:00pm and Fridays 5:00-7:00pm Bellevue Aquatic Center 

Cost: approximately $265 Per Month, $275 registration fee, outfitting costs & traveling costs.
